Self-Archiving Policy

Avicenna Journal of Medical Sciences (AJMS) supports responsible self-archiving and the long-term accessibility of scholarly research.

Authors may deposit and share permitted versions of their manuscripts in institutional repositories, subject-specific repositories, personal academic websites, and other appropriate scholarly platforms in accordance with this policy and the applicable open-access license.

Preprint Version

Authors may share the manuscript version submitted before peer review on a recognized preprint server, institutional repository, personal academic website, or other appropriate scholarly platform.

Any prior preprint posting should be disclosed to AJMS at the time of submission.

Accepted Manuscript

Authors may deposit the accepted manuscript following peer review in an institutional or disciplinary repository.

Where the accepted manuscript is deposited, the repository record should indicate that the manuscript has been accepted for publication in Avicenna Journal of Medical Sciences.

Published Version

Because AJMS publishes articles on an open-access basis, authors may share and deposit the final published Version of Record, subject to the applicable Creative Commons license.

The deposited or shared version should include:

  • the complete article citation;
  • the journal title;
  • the DOI or permanent link to the published article; and
  • the applicable copyright and licensing information.

Embargo

AJMS does not impose an embargo period on self-archiving of articles published under its open-access policy.

Third-Party Material

Authors are responsible for ensuring that third-party material included in an archived version is shared in accordance with the copyright and licensing terms applicable to that material.

Version of Record

The version formally published on the AJMS website remains the authoritative Version of Record.

Where an earlier manuscript version is shared, authors are encouraged to update the repository record with the DOI and link to the final published article.

Policy Review

AJMS periodically reviews its self-archiving policy to reflect developments in open access, repositories, licensing, and scholarly communication.
