Open Access Policy
Avicenna Journal of Medical Sciences (AJMS) is an open-access journal. All published articles are made freely available online to readers without subscription or access charges.
AJMS supports the broad dissemination of scholarly research and aims to facilitate equitable access to scientific knowledge. Authors retain the rights specified under the journal’s applicable copyright and licensing policy.
Article Processing Charge (APC)
AJMS does not charge any submission, editorial assessment, or peer-review fee.
For manuscripts accepted for publication, the standard Article Processing Charge (APC) is:
- Authors based in Pakistan: PKR 40,000 per accepted article
- Authors based outside Pakistan: USD 250 per accepted article
The APC is charged only after a manuscript has successfully completed editorial assessment and peer review and has been formally accepted for publication.
Payment of an APC has no influence on editorial evaluation, peer review, acceptance, rejection, or any other editorial decision.
Current APC Waiver
AJMS is currently offering a 100% Article Processing Charge waiver for eligible manuscripts submitted during the officially announced waiver period.
Manuscripts submitted within the stated waiver period and subsequently accepted following the journal’s standard editorial and peer-review process will be published without any APC.
The availability of a waiver does not influence the editorial assessment, peer-review process, or publication decision. All manuscripts are evaluated solely on the basis of their scientific quality, originality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, relevance to the journal’s scope, and contribution to the scholarly literature.
Details and duration of any active waiver will be communicated through the journal’s official website and announcements.
Submission Fee
No submission fee is charged.
Authors are not required to make any payment when submitting a manuscript or while the manuscript is under editorial assessment or peer review.
Editorial Independence
Financial considerations are kept separate from editorial decision-making. Editors and peer reviewers are not involved in the collection of publication charges, and the ability or inability of an author to pay an APC does not influence editorial decisions.
Expedited or Fast-Track Publication
AJMS does not offer paid fast-track acceptance or paid preferential editorial decisions.
All manuscripts follow the journal’s established editorial screening and peer-review procedures.
Payment Information
Where an APC is applicable, payment instructions are provided only after formal acceptance of the manuscript.
Authors should make payments only in response to an official invoice or payment instruction issued by the AJMS Editorial Office after manuscript acceptance.
